EDITOR, Daily News:

Much appreciation to everyone who prayed, honked, waved, walked by and said "thank you," gave a thumbs up, brought us hot mochas, doughnuts or pressed a coffee gift card in our hands during the Forty Days for Life campaign/silent prayer vigil. It was a privilege to join with thousands across our nation and 19 countries for 40 days — a time when Catholics, Protestants and Evangelicals were united in prayer and action to defend life. Through the prayers and efforts of many — your prayers, those who have stood and prayed, the sidewalk counselors outside of abortion clinics — 554 babies were saved from abortion during the 40 Days for Life 2013 campaign. Abortion facilities have closed or cut back their hours and there were a reported 77 abortion employees who decided they could not continue with their work and walked out during 40 Days for Life campaigns.

By your support you joined with us and, combined, we were and continue to be a mighty voice in support of the unborn. It is comforting to know that, since Roe v. Wade, untold millions of babies have joined the great cloud of witnesses and they are all cheering us on.

There is a message I want to convey to every woman who has walked through the aftermath of an abortion — to those women and, yes, men who have been wounded and are struggling due to a wrong decision that was made recently or 50+ years ago. The message is there is forgiveness and complete healing available to you through Jesus, the author of life.
