Nanette Marie Tams Smith, 73, died Jan. 14, 2013, in Walla Walla, Wash.

She was born on Feb. 5, 1939, in Heppner, Ore., to her parents, Dick and Mary Davenport Griffith. She attended Spray Elementary School and graduated from high school in Fossil, Ore.

She married Clifford Olson in 1958. She later married Larry Tams, with whom she raised a family.

She lived in Ketchikan from 1990 to 2004, where she married her husband, Jim Smith.

Mrs. Smith loved fishing with Jim in Ketchikan, and also enjoyed reading.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bob Tams; husband, Jim Smith; and parents, Dick and Mary Davenport Griffith.

She is survived by her sons, Terry (Dena) Tams of La Grande, Ore., Jeff Tams of Buffalo, N.Y., and Brian (Wendy) Tams of Hillsboro, Ore.; sisters, Marlene Case of Pendleton, Ore., and June (Wes) Mollenhauer of Longview, Wash.; brothers, Dean Griffith of Pilot Rock, Ore., and Mick (Darlene) Griffith of Powers, Ore.; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and 11 nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was planned for 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 in La Grande, Ore. at Loveland Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Island City Cemetery in La Grande.
