Kiana Renee Seierup, 16, died Nov. 19, 2012, in Ketchikan.
She was born on Nov. 16, 1996, in Ketchikan, and attended elementary school in Anchorage, middle school in Anchorage and Port Angeles, Wash., and Port Angeles High School and Ketchikan High School.
Ms. Seierup moved to Anchorage with her family when she was three weeks old, where she lived for 13 years. She then lived two years in Port Angeles, and was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Center. She moved back to Ketchikan on Sept. 3, 2012.
Ms. Seierup enjoyed all sports, her family writes, as well as cooking, coloring, and "drawing goofy mushrooms." She also "loved to dance and laugh — mostly to make others laugh and bring smiles to all." They added that she "was truly a free spirit," who followed in her older sister’s footsteps, but when she wanted to and with style.
They added that they will miss her "silly laugh and bubbly personality," as Ms. Seierup was a "beautiful person inside and out" who will "walk beside us every day."
Ms. Seierup was preceded in death by her grandmother, Suzie Blevins; and her grandfather, Raymond Garrett Seierup.
She is survived by her mother, Renee Priest (Blevins); father, Karl Seierup; stepfather, Mathew Priest; sister, Kymberlee Seierup; brothers, Karl Seierup Jr., Kristopher Seierup, Raymond Seierup, Steven Rogers and Cody Jensen; stepbrothers, Zak Priest and Travis Priest; grandparents, Loretta and Steve Rogers, James Blevins and Sharon Seierup; aunts and uncles, Raymond and Wanda Seierup, Sherrie Struckman, Marla and Joe Tavares, Kim Riordan, Betty Blevins, James Blevins Jr.; and godmother, Linda Williams.
A celebration of life is planned at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at the Saxman Community Hall. A celebration of life also is planned in Port Angeles on Dec. 1.
Ms. Seierup’s remains will be cremated.
