Common sense prevailed when the Supreme Court ruled against a multi-billion-dollar EPA decision recently.

Lucien “Lou” C. Johnson, age 83, passed away June 22, 2015.
Lynn Anne Waters, 67, died on July 2, 2015, in Ketchikan.
Scott A. Brown, 58, died June 18, 2015 of heart failure in Anchorage.
Charles Jasper Solomon

Charles Jasper Solomon, 94, died April 10, 2014, in Ketchikan.

He was born Dec. 21, 1919, in Oakland, Ore.

He resided in Elkton, Ore., Roseton, Ore., and Priest River, Idaho, where he was married on June 15, 1946. He resided in Ketchikan for about 40 years.

Mr. Solomon served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a logger, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and walking.

Mr. Solomon was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and May Solomon; wife, Helen Mary (Nilles) Solomon; brother, Chester Solomon; sister, Maxine (Solomon) Chappell; daughter, Donna Mae Solomon.

He is survived by his nieces, Sharon A. (Chappell) Bruno of Post Falls, Idaho, Shirley A. (Solomon) Cunningham of Priest River, and Evelyn M. (Solomon) York of West Virginia; nephews, Ronald J. Chappell and Michael D. Chappell of Priest River; four grandsons, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
