Tanner Eugene Richards was stillborn in Ketchikan on Nov. 12, 2012.

Eugene’s family writes, "We thought we were having a baby, but we had an angel instead."

Eugene is survived by his parents, Travis Eugene Richards and Marina Snover of Ketchikan; sister, Aleigha Droke; grandparents, Setanya Snover of Ketchikan, Randy Jestice of Oklahoma, Ronald and Heather Heath of Washington, Janelle Hoover of Juneau; Todd Richards of Juneau; and Lorinda Richards of Ketchikan; aunts, Miranda Jestice of Ketchikan and Lisa Hoover, Amber Woodard, Elizabeth Richards and Natasha Richards, all of Juneau; uncles, Paul Allmendinger of Ketchikan, and Elijah Shakly of Juneau; great-grandparents John and Karyle Beitman of Ketchikan, Pete and Dorothy Johnson of Arkansas, and Harry and Lenora Jestice of Oklahoma; and extended family Jeremy, Lela, Ian, Teela and Sky Raymond of Ketchikan, Jonathan Wilson of Ketchikan, Krysta Johnson of Washington state, Amanda Roe, Renee Richards and Denise Grimm of Juneau, Bobby and Karena Wilson, and Alyssa Zacharias, all of Washington state.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Church of the Nazarene at 2652 Tongass Ave., and will be led by the Rev. Cade King. A reception will come after the service. The family asks that attendees bring a dish.

His remains will be cremated.
