Victor Sherman Starrish Sr.

Victor Sherman Starrish Sr., 76, died in Ketchikan on July 22, 2013.

Mr. Starrish was born in Saxman on Dec. 1, 1936. He attended Metlakatla High School and Mt. Edgecombe High School in Sitka. He worked for the Louisiana-Pacific Corporation for more than 30 years.

He served in the 101st Airborne Division of the Army and made 37 jumps in his career.

Mr. Starrish enjoyed walking, fishing and tire repair.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Emma Starrish; daughter, Dora Starrish; brother, Eddie Starrish Sr.; sister, Rhoda Feak; and grandson, Thomas John White.

He is survived by his son, Victor Starrish Jr.; daughters, Emma and Darcy Starrish and Alma Gogert; sisters, Alice (Peter) Clevenger, Cecilia Fawcett and Ruby Soask; brothers, Paul Starrish Jr., Art Fawcett, Silas Fawcett, Louie Fawcett Jr. and Gibby Gibson; grandchildren, Doreen, Wilfred, Josie, Eunice, Ben and Darcy; and numerous nieces nephews and great-grand children.

A?memorial will be held at 5 p.m. on July 26, 2013, at The Salvation Army in Ketchikan. A later service in Metlakatla is planned, but a date has not been set.
