Emily Ester Verney

Emily Ester Verney, 42, of Metlakatla died on June 8, 2014, in Metlakatla.

She was born to Edwin and Lillian Verney on Dec. 8, 1971, in Ketchikan.

Ms. Verney graduated from Metlakatla High School and worked at the cannery and senior center in Metlakatla.

She was a member of the William Duncan Memorial Church.

Her pastimes included playing bingo, walking spending time with her family and traveling to Ketchikan.

“She liked to laugh all the time and she liked to tell jokes,” her family writes. “She will be missed by all her family members.”

She was preceded in death by her uncles, Joseph Atkinson, Alferd Atkinson and Wardell Atkinson; and grandmother, Ester Ryan.

Ms. Verney is survived by her husband, Ronald Forsberg; daughter, Michelle E. Verney; son, Walter A. Forsberg; grandson, Aidan J. Verney; mother, Lillian Verney; father, Edwin Verney; brother, Edwin J. Verney; grandfather, Conrad Ryan Sr.; uncles, Charlie T. Ryan and Conrad Ryan Jr.; aunts, Lucy Gross, Ethel Ryan and Donna Carlton; niece, Lena Ryan; and nephew Jeydon Tinney.

A memorial will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 in Metlakatla. A funeral will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014, also in Metlakatla.
