Darryl Guthrie, 61, died on Nov. 12, 2013 in his Anchorage home.
Mr. Guthrie was born in Ketchikan on July 1, 1952.
Mr. Guthrie worked for the Alaska Department of the Interior Indian Affairs. His job took him to Juneau and Anchorage where he worked to improve tribal outreach at the Alaska regional offices. During his tenure at Indian Affairs, he was often in charge of distributing funds for tribal advancement and growth on behalf of the Secretary of the Interior, Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs and the Alaska Regional Director.
The family said Mr. Guthrie was one of a few specialists in his department to achieve Awarding Official Level II status. They are very proud of him and his work.
Mr. Guthrie is preceded in death by his mother, Winifred Beck; father, David Guthrie; sisters Sandra Riley and Debra Guthrie; brothers Wayne Guthrie and Ted Guthrie; grandparents Fred and Mabel Williams and Alex and Josephine Guthrie; and many other family members.
Mr. Guthrie is survived by his wife, Arlene "Bunny" Grant; sons, Lonnie (Melanie) Guthrie, Shaun Guthrie and Michael Guthrie; brothers and sisters, Randy Williams, Fred Williams, Richard Guthrie, Barbara Guthrie, Raymond Guthrie, Ronald Guthrie, Irene Jones, Tina Makua, Joyce Makua, John Guthrie, Emily Guthrie, Charles Beck, Tawna Milligan, Pat Williams, Sharon Seierup; and step brothers and sisters, Donald Beck, Kenny Beck, Roberta Beck and Jenny Beck; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 at the Saxman Tribal House. A luncheon will follow at Saxman Community Hall.
Pallbearers will be Randy Williams, Raymond Guthrie, Ronald Guthrie, Ricky Williams, Justin Williams and Jeff Elisoff.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Guthrie, John Guthrie, Lonnie Guthrie, Shaun Guthrie, Michael Guthrie, Richard Guthrie, Fred Williams, Roy Guthrie, Richard Makua, Lyle Jones, Kerry Riley and Tina Makua.
