French Senate victory certified

ANCHORAGE (AP) —Division of Elections Director Gail Fenumiai says she has certified the result for the race in Senate District J, where incumbent Democrat Hollis French outpolled Republican Bob Bell.

Bell will have until Wednesday to ask for a recount.

Fenumiai says certification followed completion of work by the State Review Board. French’s lead is 51 votes, 7,593 to 7,542.

A recount could not be requested before certification.
