Welcome, music fest

Welcome, music fest

It's a high note on which we welcome 500 Southeast high school students to town.

With a song in their hearts, the students are here for the Region 5 Southeast Alaska Music Festival.

The students will perform in vocal and instrumental ensembles and participate in clinics and workshops, learning from local and guests teachers. Individuals and groups will perform for adjudicators.

The community has signed up to host the students who also will be seeing our town, and checking out its goods and services. Parents and chaperones will add to all of the exciting activity.

The festival will feature some highly accomplished musical talents, if what Ketchikan has to offer is any indication, and it is. It will be fun to hear what the other communities in the region offer vocally and instrumentally.

Ketchikan appreciates the opportunity to be the host for the festival and welcomes all of its participants.

It undoubtedly will be a lot of fun.
