Snow day: KGBSD cancels school on Friday due to anticipated snowfall

KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The Ketchikan School District has canceled school Friday because of anticipated weather and snow conditions.

The district announced the closure late Thursday afternoon, citing the anticipated accumulation of snow, continued heavy snow, and a winter storm warning from the National Weather Service.

Also canceled are the Ketchikan High School Kings and Lady Kings basketball games that were scheduled for Friday evening against Colony and Mt. Edgecumbe high schools, respectively.

Friday’s performance of “The Addams Family” has been rescheduled for 7:30 p.m Saturday at the Kayhi auditorium.

As of late Thursday evening, the National Weather Service winter storm warning for Ketchikan and much of the southern Southeast Alaska area that began at 6 p.m. Thursday was in effect until 3 p.m. Friday.
