KETCHIKAN (KDN) — Darrell Taylor Ryan, 38, was indicted by a Ketchikan grand jury on the additional charge of second-degree murder — extreme indifference, on Thursday.
Ryan is accused of killing Aaron B. Dixon. Ryan already has been indicted on first- and second-degree murder charges in the same case.
On the night of Jan. 12, police responded to a report of a fight between the two men at a residence, court documents state. The officers found Dixon on the floor of the residence with 12 stab wounds, according to court documents.
Dixon was transported to the Ketchikan PeaceHealth Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, the documents state.
Witnesses told police that Ryan had stabbed Dixon and left the residence, the documents state.
Officers arrested Ryan early the next morning. According to the documents, he told police that he had felt threatened during the altercation.
Ryan’s trial is set for Jan. 28, 2019. His next court appearance is an arraignment scheduled for 2 p.m. on March 29.
