KETCHIKAN (KDN) — Robert Steen, 33, was arraigned Monday in Ketchikan District Court on the charge of second-degree assault — domestic violence.
Bail was set at $5,000 cash, and a preliminary hearing was set for 3 p.m. on March 15.
A court document describes Steen as the nephew of the alleged victim in the case. The charging document states that the alleged victim told police that Steen attacked him with a stick on Friday, causing pain and injury. Steen allegedly hit him in the face with the stick and “attempted several times to stab him in the face with the same stick, causing injury to his hand as he was trying to protect his face,” the document states.
The document further states that Sgt. Mike Purcell of the Ketchikan Police Department observed the victim’s injuries, which included a 3-inch bruise on his neck and a one-half-inch splinter in his hand.
Steen is currently being held at the Ketchikan Correctional Center.
