Boat parade set

KETCHIKAN (KDN) — The 2017 Ketchikan Christmas Boat Parade is set for Dec. 22, according to parade organizers.

The parade, which is being coordinated by the Southeast Alaska Petroleum Resource Organization and the Ketchikan Fire Department, is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 22 in the Peninsula Point area before voyaging down Tongass Narrows — weather permitting.

Participating boats are requested to muster at 4 p.m. at Ward Cove, according to George Mahoney of SEAPRO.

Boat operators should ensure that their vessels have the Coast Guard-required safety equipment on board.
