Arne N. Paasche, 76, died Oct. 2, 2017, at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born on July 15, 1941, in Norway. He was raised in Norway, and moved to Alaska as a teen.
Mr. Paasche was a lifelong longshoreman and fisherman.
“Arne was an avid fisheman and spent years fishing on his sailboat,” his family writes. “His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren on his boat and at Dall Bay.
Mr. Paasche was preceded in death by his father, Bjarne K. Paasche; and mother, Ragna F. Paasche.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maxine C. Paasche; sister, Garret Johnson and her children, Eric, Gary, Steve, Sonya and Tina; son, Arne P. Hamilton and his children, Tyson, Blue, Kyle, Wesley and Sarah; son, Edward L. Hamilton and his children, Caleb, Kira, Becky and Jayden; daughter, Debbie A. Fredricksen and her children, Martina, Shelby, Bryce and Rosie; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Mr. Paasche’s life will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at The Salvation Army.
Honorary pallbearers are Arne Hamilton, Edward Hamilton, Eric Johnson, Kurt Fredricksen, Anita Rose Durgan, Shirley Snook, Helen Peterson, Doug Snook, Jim Hendricks and Jamie Hendricks.
Mr. Paaasche’s remains were cremated, and his ashes will be spread at Dall Bay near Ketchikan.
