ANOTHER VISIT — The Spirit of Glacier Bay sits moored to Berth 1 Friday. The 102-passenger ship was one of the now-defunct Cruise West ships that traversed Alaska waters until the company ceased operations in 2010. The ship made headlines in 2008 when it ran aground in its namesake of Glacier Bay. Now under ownership of Alaskan Dream Cruises, the ship is in Ketchikan to wait out bad weather before it leaves for Sitka to undergo renovations, according to a news release. Alaskan Dream Cruises plans to rename the ship the Chicagof Dream and have it ready in time for the 2016 cruise season. Note: the wide-angle lens used to take this photograph makes the bow appear much larger than it actually is.
